I attended a seminar where two women by the names of Jaclyn Kasper and Eileen Rall spoke about their professions. Jaclyn Kasper is a Speech language Pathologist (SLP) from Delaware County Intermediate Unit and Chester County Speech Sciences. Dr. Eileen Rall, AuD, is from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (Kasper). These two women graduated with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. While listening to them give their presentation, I realized one thing that these two women kept repeating. Kasper and Rall both stated that “Communication is everything.” Rall, who works at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), explained, “Communication is what starts the entire process. You have to know how to approach someone in the proper tone and manner.” Rall then went on to say “In order to build relationships with parents, patients and family members, one must know how to properly communicate and how to deliver a message that everyone can understand.” She continued to that statement by stating that “Communication can either make or break you as an audiologist because of how closely you work with people all day every day (Kasper).” Imagine going to a new school on the first day of class and ignoring everyone who you came in contact with that day. Would you get to know anyone? Would you be able to build relationships? Exactly what Rall said is exactly what needs to be done. Communication takes place every part of the day. There is no way of avoiding communication, so one might as well master the art of it then.
"Communication is everything"
"Make or break you"
"Its's about building relationships"
